MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521096516 A) filed by Sudhir Ramchandra Apte, Pune, Maharashtra, on Oct. 7, 2025, for 'struvite recovering device and a system and method for recovering struvite.'
Inventor(s) include Nitin Sudhir Apte.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a struvite recovery device and a system for recovering struvite from waste water. The device (50) is a special pipe structure made from magnesium cement, provided with successive pinch/ constricted areas (10) there inside, for inducing pressure differential. The partial pressure reduction through pinch/ constricted areas forces removal of CO2 dissolved in the wastewater thereby increasing pH of the waste water. Struvite precipitation and deposition takes place at pH levels above 7, on the internal wall of the pipe structure. Expanded sink areas (30) are provided successive to the constricted pinch areas (10) for facilitating deposition of struvite. Once the deposition reaches a certain level, the spent device (pipe section) is isolated from the wastewater removal system and crushed for further utilization as a high-quality fertilizer."
