MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521059755 A) filed by Patel Dashrathbhai Pashabhai, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on June 23, for 'straw-actuated touchless water dispensing system for multistory buildings.'
Inventor(s) include Patel Dashrathbhai Pashabhai.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a Straw-Operated Water Cooler System designed for multistory buildings, offering a hygienic, tamper-proof, and energy-efficient solution for public drinking water access. The system comprises a rooftop water storage tank integrated with a chiller unit and a reverse osmosis (RO) filtration plant to ensure the supply of purified, chilled water. Filtered water is distributed through flexible pipelines to wall-mounted dispensing panels installed on each floor. Each panel includes a disposable paper straw dispenser and a non-return spindle valve that opens only upon forward pressure applied by a straw. This contactless mechanism eliminates direct hand or mouth contact with the water outlet, reducing contamination risk and promoting hygiene. Additionally, the system is equipped with temperature sensors to regulate the operation of the chiller unit, optimizing energy use. The invention is ideally suited for residential complexes, institutions, hospitals, and public infrastructure, promoting water conservation, sanitation, and ease of access in shared environments."
