MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421074638 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Nashik, Maharashtra, on Oct. 3, 2024, for 'strain gauge mounting fixture on deep internal surface of aircraft wheel axle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This fixture relates to aircraft wheel axle (1). The invention is intended for landing load and taxing load estimation of aircraft. The fixture is mounted on wheel axle (1) to mount the strain gauge (2) on the deep internal surface of aircraft wheel axle (1). The fixture has bracket holder (3) with three front lock screw (4) and three rear lock screw (4). On bracket holder (3) location guide (5), feed screw (6), outer index lock (7) and stopper screw (8) are provided on front side. On the location guide (5), guide pin (9) & inner index lock (10) is arranged. Reference locator (11) slides on the bracket holder (3). Gauge holder (12) is mounted on the inner tip of reference locator (11). The advantage of the fixture is accurate strain gauge positioning and mounting, less setup cost, reduced manual effort and variable wheel axle (1) data set measurements."
