MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441067510 A) filed by Stellantis Auto Sas, Poissy, France, on Sept. 6, 2024, for 'storage for key in a vehicle and a system for monitoring key in the storage.'

Inventor(s) include Dominick Babu J; Pragyan Prasad; and Raghavendiran Govindraj.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A storage for key is provided on a trim (102) of an A-pillar (130) of an vehicle for storing the key of the vehicle. The storage prevents the rattling noise and risk of falling into the foot-well zone. A front surface (106) of the trim (102) includes the storage for key comprising a recess (101) and a lid (103) to at least partially cover the recess (101). For monitoring key in the storage, the trim (102) is equipped with a sensor to sense key in the recess (101) of the storage. The sensor sends the sensed signals to a control unit. The control unit controls the alarm unit based on the sensed signal and the state of an ignition switch, i.e., ignition switch is on or off."
