MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441075255 A) filed by Tvs Motor Company Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Oct. 4, 2024, for 'stator for an electric machine.'

Inventor(s) include Sundaravalli Krishnan; Sreeju Sreedharan Nair; and Vethanayagam Jayajyothi Johnson.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Present invention relates to a stator (100) for an electric machine. The stator (100) comprises a stator body member (102) and a plurality of pole members (104) extending radially from the stator body member (102) and adapted to support windings. An opening (106) is provided between end portions (108) of adjacent pole members of the plurality of pole members (104). A closing member (110, 210) is coupled to one or more of the plurality of pole members (104). The closing member (110, 210) is adapted to close the opening (106) provided between the end portions (108) of adjacent pole members of the plurality of pole members (104). The closing member (110, 210) is adapted to cover the opening (106) thereby minimizing generation of cogging torque during operation of the electric machine."
