MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514091441 A) filed by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Akron, U.S.A., on Sept. 24, 2025, for 'static tire load estimation.'
Inventor(s) include Vegamoor, Vamsi Krishna; and Singh, Kanwar Bharat.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system is provided, the system including a tire disposed on a rim of a wheel, and an array of light-based sensors disposed circumferentially about the rim, where each lightbased sensor of the array of light-based sensors directed toward the tire. The system includes a computing device which can receive one or more distance readings from the array of lightbased sensors, generate a parabola approximating a contact area of the tire based at least in part on the one or more distance readings, approximate a shape of the contact area based at least in part on the parabola, and determine a static load estimation based at least in part on the shape of the contact area."
