MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411013325 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 23, 2024, for 'staircase railing cleaning device.'

Inventor(s) include Richa Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A staircase railing cleaning device, comprises of a housing 1 positioned over railing of a staircase to be cleaned, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 3 to detect dimension and inclination of the staircase, a Tri-Star wheel 4 attached with each rods 2 to translate staircase over the railing, a telescopic link 5 configured with a suction unit 6 to withdraw dust/dirt from the railing, a primary nozzle 7 connected with a chamber 8 stored with a cleaning solution to dispense solution on the railing, a U-shaped cylindrical member 11 attached with the housing 1 via a pair of telescopic poles 12 configured with a motorized ball and socket joint to position member over the railing and a secondary nozzle 14 configured with a reservoir 15 to dispense water on the railing for rinsing the railing."
