MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010105 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'stair-case climbing assistive device for disabled.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A stair-case climbing assistive device for disabled comprising a platform 1 configured with a frame 2 for providing support to platform 1 on wall surface, an imaging unit 3 for capturing surroundings images of platform 1 to determines presence of disabled person, multiple motorized hinge joint 4 configured between platform 1 and frame 2 for deploying platform 1 over staircase, ultrasonic sensor for detecting distance between wheelchair and deployed platform 1, sliding unit 5 for positioning clamps 6 arranged on sliding unit 5, near to wheelchair, a laser sensor arranged on frame 2 for detecting configuration of armrests of wheelchair, a LiDAR sensor for detecting misbalancing of wheelchair, telescopic bars 7 extends to create barrier on one side of platform 1 to prevent falling of person."
