MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004420 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 22, 2024, for 'spoke maintenance device for two-wheeler.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A spoke maintenance device for two-wheeler comprises of a platform 1 developed to be installed on a fixed surface, a camera 2 arranged on platform 1 for capturing multiple images of platform 1 to detect positioning of wheel of a two-wheeler on platform 1 by a user, a pair of curved shaped member 3 arranged on platform 1 via a pair of vertical sliders 4 for gripping wheel vertically on platform 1, an ultrasonic sensor for detecting bent in wheel spokes, a robotic link 5 for positioning a roller 6 in contact with spoke along with translating roller 6 along spoke length for correcting alignment of spoke, a robotic arm 7 attached with a spoke tension meter 8 to measure tension experienced by spoke, a robotic gripper 9 installed with a spoke wrench 10 to engage with nipple associated with spoke to turn nipple in clockwise/anticlockwise to tighten/loosen spoke tension."
