MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641021702 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 24, for 'spinal posture magneto-aligner: a wearable electromagnetic biofeedback system for dynamic spinal alignment correction.'

Inventor(s) include Monica Sridhar; Dr. Veluri Rakesh; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a wearable spinal alignment system for active posture correction usmg intelligent sensing, electronwgnetic actuation, and biofeedback. The device comprises a lightweight. tlcxiblc back panel embedded with a 9-axis inertial measurement unit, microcontrollcr, microelectromagnets. and haptic feedback modules for continuous real-time monitoring of spinal orientation. The system detects postural deviations including slouching, excessive tlcxion, lateral bending, and rotation during daily activities. Upon detection, controlled electromagnetic forces generate gentle, directional guidance to promote neutral spinal alignment without restricting natural movement, while vibration feedback enhances proprioceptive awareness. An adaptive algorithm personalizes correction thresholds based on user-specific posture patterns. Powered by a compact rechargeable battery and fabricated using breathable. ergonomic materials, the device is suitable for prolonged wear. The system provides a non-rigid, intelligent solution for posture training, spinal health maintenance, back strain reduction, and physiotherapy-based rehabilitation."
