MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511132578 A) filed by GLS Speciality Chemicals Private Limited, Bawal, Haryana, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'solvent-based pmma transfer lacquer composition for pet films.'
Inventor(s) include Neelakamal Mohapatra; and Angshuman Mukherjee.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a solvent-based polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) transfer lacquer composition suitable for application on polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films and subsequent transfer to secondary substrates. The composition comprises 45% to 50% by weight of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as a film-forming component, and a multi-solvent system (44% to 60% by weight) comprising an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent, an ester solvent, a glycol ether solvent, and a ketone solvent. The composition further comprises functional additives (2% to 8% by weight) including a wetting agent, a release agent, a co-polymer modifier, and a levelling agent. The disclosed composition forms a uniform coating on PET films and enables controlled transfer to secondary substrates under heat or pressure with minimal residue on the PET carrier film. The composition is suitable for decorative transfer, packaging, embossing, metallization, and industrial lamination applications and is compatible with commercial coating processes."
