MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631015913 A) filed by Jis College Of Engineering, Kalyani, West Bengal, on Feb. 12, for 'solar portable vaccine refrigerator system.'
Inventor(s) include Basudeb Dey; Dr. Alok Kumar Shrivastav; Suman Kumar Sarma; Ashis Kumar Mandal; Souhardya Mitra; and Pratik Kumar Baidya.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A solar-powered portable vaccine refrigeration system is disclosed, specifically engineered for off-grid medical applications. The system comprises a solar photovoltaic source, a thermoelectric cooling module (TEC1-12715), and a digital temperature controller (W1209) configured to maintain an internal thermal environment between 2-80C. The invention utilizes a solid-state cooling architecture to eliminate mechanical failure points and improve portability. By integrating a buffer battery and high-efficiency heat dissipation components, the system ensures vaccine integrity for up to 10 hours without external power, thereby supporting global immunization efforts in resource-limited settings."
