MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641022384 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 25, for 'softfit auricular vagal nerve stimulation ear cuff for adults.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vignesh Srinivasan; Dr. Yashini Vijaya; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Soft Fit Auricular Vagal Nerve Stimulation Ear Cuff for Adults Patients with chronic neurological conditions or those undergoing surgery generally complain regarding anxiety and poor sleep, which often results 111 a delayed recovery and a lower quality of life. Conventional ta VNS devices-usually metal ball electrodes or inflexible ear clips-often result in skin reactions, poor electrode contact, and pam, which significantly reduces therapeutic efficacy and compliance. The Soft Fit Auricular VNS Ear Cuff, a soft, pressure-free, medical-grade silicone device with broad, snap-in conductive pads that ensure consistent current distribution, is explained in this invention. It is intended for stable implantation along the concha and tragus of the ear. Because of its modular design, it can quickly adapt to various ear shapes and specific stimulation spots. Furthermore, the integrated impedance feedback mechanism protects effective stimulation by continuously monitoring contact quality. Compared to traditional clip electrodes, preliminary clinical and laboratory evaluation shows significant anxiety reduction, better sleep start and maintenance, and increased patient adherence. The Soft Fit cuff raises the bar for patient comfort, safety, and neuromodulation results by facilitating frequent, simple use in both hospital and home settings."
