MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431051781 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on July 5, 2024, for 'sofosbuvir loaded hydrogel formulation for wound healing and method for synthesis thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Snigdha Pattnaik; Bhabani Sankar Satapathy; Abhishek Mishra; and Dr. Laxmidhar Maharana.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Sofosbuvir loaded hydrogel formulation for wound healing comprises of (i) 0.3-0.6% w/v Carbopol(R) 934, (ii) 1-2% w/v HPMC E15M, (iii) 0.5-1.5% w/v Sofosbuvir, (iv) 0.05-0.15% w/v Methyl paraben, (v) 0.03-0.06% w/v Propyl, (vi) 4-5% w/v Propylene glycol, (vii) 0.01-0.03% v/v Triethanolamine and (viii) 90-95% w/v double distilled water. A method of synthesis of Sofosbuvir loaded hydrogel formulation comprises the steps of dispersing Carbopol(R) 934 in double distilled water preheated at temperature 60-80oC under constant 250-350 rpm to obtain dispersion, mixing HPMC E15M in obtained dispersion to obtain polymeric dispersion, dissolving Sofosbuvir in double distilled water to obtain Sofosbuvir solution, dissolving Sofosbuvir solution in polymeric dispersion with stirring to obtain Sofosbuvir-polymeric dispersion, adding Methyl paraben and propyl paraben in Sofosbuvir-polymeric dispersion, followed by addition of Propylene glycol and adjusting final volume with double distilled water to 100 ml and checking pH and adding triethanolamine to obtain Sofosbuvir loaded hydrogel formulation."
