The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Individuals facing physical disabilities encounter various challenges that significantly impact their daily lives. These disabilities may result from accidents, congenital conditions, or progressive diseases, leading to limitations in mobility, sensory perception, or dexterity. Tasks that others may take for granted, such as walking, using stairs, or even simple movements, can become arduous or impossible for those with physical disabilities. This work presents the design and implementation of an intelligent wheelchair system that integrates gesture recognition, fall detection, and health monitoring functionalities. The system is developed to enhance the mobility and well-being of individuals with physical disabilities, providing them with greater autonomy and safety. Gesture recognition technology allows users to control the wheelchair's movement and functions using intuitive head gestures (This helps persons with hand impairments also to use it effectively), enabling effortless navigation and operation. Fall detection algorithm continuously monitor the user's movements and promptly alert caregivers or emergency services in the event of a fall, ensuring timely assistance and intervention. Furthermore, the health monitoring system tracks vital signs and health parameters in real-time, providing users and healthcare providers with valuable insights into their well-being with alert notifications. By combining these advanced technologies into a single platform, the intelligent wheelchair offers a comprehensive solution to support individuals with physical disabilities, promoting independence, safety, and improved quality of life."
