MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611007559 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 27, for 'smart tyre system.'
Inventor(s) include Deven; and Ridhi.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a Smart Tyre System, a multi-functional intelligent module for enhanced safety, energy efficiency, and compliance. The system integrates an auto-braking mechanism within the rim structure, capable of activation through an emergency button or automatic sensors, thereby reducing response delays during critical situations. An energy harvesting module, comprising piezoelectric strips and micro-turbines, converts rotational and vibrational energy into electrical power, which can be stored or supplied to the vehicle. A balance maker mechanism with gyroscopic sensors and hydraulic stabilizers ensures tyre-level stability, preventing rollover, skidding, and imbalance. A speed limit tracker and limiter, integrated with GPS and AI-based road sign recognition, regulates tyre RPM to maintain legal compliance. Additionally, an IoT-enabled controller manages data processing and communicates with the vehicle's dashboard for real-time monitoring. The invention offers a novel integration of safety, energy, balance and speed control directly within the tyre."
