MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517054678 A) filed by Cummins Power Generation Inc., Minneapolis, on June 6, for 'smart turn off logic for high power converters and inverters.'
Inventor(s) include Shaikh, Latif M.; Jarudkar, Anand Narayan; Sonpethkar, Amit Balkrishna; Petare, Sushant; and M, Vysakh.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Presented herein are systems, apparatuses, devices, and methods for deactivating high power converters and inverters in shutdown and fault events. An apparatus can include an inverter electrically coupled with a power supply. The inverter can provide electrical power from the power supply. The apparatus can include an output contactor electrically coupled with the inverter and with a load. The output contactor can pass the electrical power from the inverter to the load. The apparatus can include a controller having at least one processor coupled with memory. The controller can detect that the output contactor is off. The controller can perform, responsive to the detection, a removal of residual heat from the inverter. The controller can determine whether a temperature of the inverter is not below a threshold from performing the removal. The controller can execute at least one fault countermeasure in accordance with the determination."
The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 10, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/079413.
