MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063439 A) filed by Jss Academy Of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, Karnataka, on May 19, for 'smart telemetric hydro-storage orthodontic appliance case.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. B. Nandlal; Dr. Rudraswamy S. B; Rakesh M D; Kirannambiar; Ujjwal Kumar; M V Prathvi Raj; and Aniruddha.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Smart Telemetric Hydro-Storage Orthodontic Appliance Case The invention is a smart, external orthodontic appliance storage system featuring dual-mode (wet and dry) water-based environments, integrated with multi-sensor fusion technology. It employs sensors including load cells, Hall effect sensors, ultraviolet illumination modules, and spectroscopy-based microbial detection mechanisms, microbial load detectors, water quality sensors, temperature sensors, and position sensors to objectively monitor appliance presence, storage conditions, and hygiene parameters in real-time. The system processes sensor data using embedded AI algorithms to assess compliance, microbial contamination, and storage safety, and transmits this information via wireless communication to remote devices for clinician oversight. Its novel design enables precise tracking of non-wear duration, microbial risks, and environmental parameters without embedding electronics into the appliance itself. Multi-modal alerts notify users of threshold breaches, promoting adherence and maintaining optimal storage conditions. This external, sensor-driven approach enhances orthodontic treatment compliance, hygiene, and appliance longevity, representing a significant advancement over existing passive storage solutions."
