According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Water scarcity and inefficient usage remain critical global challenges exacerbated by urbanization and climate change. Traditional water monitoring systems lack real-time insights and user-level analytics, limiting their effectiveness in leak detection and conservation. This paper presents FedWater, a novel IoT-based water management system that integrates federated edge learning and multi-parameter sensing for privacy preserving, scalable, and sustainable water infrastructure monitoring. The system features a compact, solar-powered device equipped with flow, pressure, and turbidity sensors, running TinyML models for real-time anomaly detection at the edge. Federated learning enables continual improvement of detection algorithms without transmitting raw user data, ensuring privacy. Data is aggregated and visualized via a cloud platform, supporting actionable insights for users and utilities. Field deployments demonstrate significant reductions in water wastage, high anomaly detection accuracy, and multi year autonomous operation. This approach advances beyond existing solutions by combining edge intelligence, privacy, and sustainability, positioning FedWater as a robust tool for next-generation smart, water manageme."
