MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541121107 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'smart solar grass cutter with lawn coverage.'

Inventor(s) include A. Prathap; Dr. S. Naveen; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The increasing demand for automation in household and agricultural tools has driven the development of smart, energy-efficient solutions. This project presents the design and implementation of a Smart Solar Grass Cutter with Lawn Coverage, a system that autonomously trims grass while optimizing energy usage through solar power. The cutter is equipped with a solar panel that charges a battery to ensure environmentally sustainable operation without dependency on external electricity sources. Using sensors and a microcontroller-based system, the device can detect obstacles, avoid collisions, and intelligently navigate the lawn to ensure full coverage. It integrates GPS or boundary-mapping features to track mowed areas and improve efficiency. This smart system reduces human effort, promotes the use of renewable energy, and provides a cost-effective, low-maintenance solution for lawn management. Ideal for residential, institutional, and small-scale agricultural applications, the smart solar grass cutter represents a step toward greener and smarter automation in outdoor maintenance."
