MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641020998 A) filed by Avn Institute Of Engineering And Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Feb. 23, for 'smart scout iot driven terrain detection rover.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Dhanalakshmi Gopal; Dr. P. Nageshwara Reddy; Dr. B Shilpa; M. Sharath Chandra; Ramesh Kumbam; Kamam Chandra Shekar; M Samarasimha Reddy; Bombothula Kruthika; Yellu Harish Reddy; Chouti Poojitha; D. Manikanta; and D. Madhu.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Smart Scout rover is an loT-enabled autonomous ground vehicle designed for terrain characterization, soil evaluation, and environmental monitoring in outdoor settings. The system utilizes a microcontrollerbased control unit connected to GSM, Bluetooth, and GPS modules to facilitate bidirectional communication, command input, and ongoing geolocation tracking. A diverse sensor suite, comprising soil-property sensors, environmental condition sensors, obstacle detection components, and an imaging camera, facilitates real-time collection of insitu field data and terrain imagery for later analysis and decision-making support. The rover operates using a rechargeable lithium-ion battery alongside a solar energy harvesting subsystem, facilitating prolonged. CD O CO Q. 0) p E o oo o o o CM O 5 CD CM O CM energy-efficient, and largely autonomous functionality. Embedded software developed orchestrates autonomous navigation, real-time responsiveness, error detection and recovery, and dependable interoperability among all sensing, communication, and actuation modules. The Smart Scout rover, through connectivity with loT systems, facilitates remote monitoring, data logging, alert generating, and supervisory control, alongside completely and semi-autonomous field operation. The system's modular and scalable architecture facilitates adaption to many applications in precision agriculture, environmental research, and exploration, offering a strong and sustainable solution for intelligent field operations."
