MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541132932 A) filed by Cvr College Of Engineering, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'smart railway track inspection and safety robot..'

Inventor(s) include M Vasavi.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The current invention is called Smart Railway Track Inspection and Safety Robot and has to do with an autonomous system that is supposed to be efficient and accurate in the field of railway track inspection. The system is comprised of various sensors that include ultrasonic, infrared and LIDAR sensors with an integrated microcontroller to process and control the data. In the case of a GPS module, it is possible to track the exact location and a communication unit connected to the IoT or GSM technology sends live inspection information to a centralized monitoring device. Another feature in the robot is the train detection module which detects the presence of the passing trains, about 1000 meters, and the robot automatically shifts the unit to a secure location. The innovation has provided an effective, efficient and smart method of monitoring and maintenance of the infrastructure of modern railways."
