MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050558 A) filed by Easwari Engineering College; and Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 21, for 'smart power generation and lighting system using speed breaker with iot and ldr sensors.'

Inventor(s) include Sathiyamoorthy R M; Srinivasv; Sarath Kumar J; and Praveen Rajs.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Smart Power Generation and Lighting System harnesses kinetic energy from vehicular motion over speed breakers to generate and store electricity using piezoelectric or mechanical converters. The harvested energy is stored in rechargeable batteries and used to power public lighting systems. An integrated IoT module enables remote monitoring of power generation, battery health, and lighting performance. A Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor automates lighting based on ambient brightness, activating lights only in low light conditions to conserve energy. The IoT platform supports predictive maintenance and real-time adjustments, ensuring optimal efficiency and sustainability. This system promotes smart city development by combining renewable energy harvesting, intelligent automation, and efficient power management for public lighting."
