MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018902 A) filed by Mls. R. M. K College Of Engineering And Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 19, for 'smart parking solutions using iot sensors in urban environments.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nageswari D.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Accelerated urbanization and the persistent growth in vehicle ownership have engendered. significant parking difficulties in contemporary cities, resulting in traffic congestion, fuel inefficiency, and heightened carbon emissions. This work introduces a Smart Parking 5 Solution using Internet of Things (loT) sensors to provide effective and real-time management of parking spaces in metropolitan settings. The system incorporates ultrasonic or magnetic sensors placed in parking spaces to identify vehicle presence and relay occupancy information via wireless communication technologies to a cloud-based platfom1. The gathered data is processed and analyzed to provide real-time parking availability via mobile 10 apps and online dashboards. The technology further facilitates online booking, digital payment, and administrative oversight to enhance space usage. Edge computing methodologies may be used to diminish latency and improve system responsiveness. Experimental findings indicate reduced search duration, decreased traffic congestion, and enhanced parking efficacy. The suggested loT-enabled framework provides a scalable, 15 economical, and sustainable approach for the creation of smart city infrastructure."
