MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641044343 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 7, for 'smart mirror therapy box with pain responsive visual feedback for neuro rehabilitation.'
Inventor(s) include Sandhiya Logu; Dr. Jeslin G N; and Dr. Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Smart Mirror Therapy Box is a modified form of the conventional mirror therapy box designed to provide pain-responsive visual feedback during rehabilitation. In this system, the mirror image parameters such as brightness, movement speed, and functional task display are adjusted according to the patient's reported pain level using standardized pain scales such as the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) or Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS). This invention aims to provide graded sensory-motor stimulation, prevent pain aggravation, and promote safe neuroplastic changes in the brain. The device is especially useful in patients where conventional mirror therapy may increase pain or discomfort. The Smart Mirror Therapy Box allows controlled progression of therapy, improving both pain modulation and functional recovery."
