MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511114445 A) filed by Chawla, Bhavuk, Mohali, Punjab, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'smart mask for breath quality and disease biomarker monitoring.'

Inventor(s) include Chawla, Bhavuk.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A smart respiratory mask system (100) integrates gas sensors (104), artificial intelligence processing, and wireless connectivity for real-time breath analysis to monitor hygiene and detect disease biomarkers. The system includes a mask housing (102) that covers at least a portion of a user's face, with a gas sensor array (104) positioned to detect volatile organic compounds and biomarkers in exhaled breath. The system comprises a microcontroller unit (110) for processing sensor signals, an artificial intelligence module for pattern recognition and health condition classification, and a wireless communication interface (114) for transmitting data to external devices. The mask incorporates an airflow management system that directs exhaled breath toward sensors (104) while preventing ambient air interference. The system continuously monitors breath composition during normal daily activities and provide immediate feedback regarding breath quality and potential health indicators through integrated alerts or user interface such as companion mobile applications for non-invasive health assessment."
