MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104097 A) filed by Nanovistar Private Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'smart manhole monitoring and alert device with integrated gas, water-level, and energy-harvesting units.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Monica Jaiswal.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a smart manhole monitoring and alert device (100) comprising a modular, waterproof housing (102) mounted on an existing manhole cover (101) for real-time monitoring of underground environmental conditions. The device integrates a microcontroller unit (104) connected to multiple sensors including gas (105), water-level (106), temperature and humidity (107), lid status (108), and tilt (109) sensors. A hybrid energy-harvesting module (110) converts ambient vibrations into electrical energy stored in a supercapacitor (111) and rechargeable battery (112), managed by a power circuit (113). The system includes LoRa-based communication (114) and GPS (115) for long-range data transmission to a cloud platform (122). An automatic protective door (118) actuated by a DC motor (119) safeguards sensors from flooding. Visual and audio alerts (116, 117) indicate hazardous conditions. The invention enables autonomous, energy-efficient, and reliable monitoring for sewage safety and smart infrastructure applications."
