MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202634000681 A) filed by Smps Electric Control Private Limited, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Jan. 4, for 'smart logical control & display stations (smart-lcds).'
Inventor(s) include Swarnalata Dei; and Sagarika Khatua.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a Smart Logical Control & Display Station (Smart-LCDs), an advanced industrial IoT-enabled embedded device designed for real-time measurement, monitoring, control, and cloud connectivity of distributed energy resources (DERs)(102), power control devices (PCDs), battery management systems (BMS), and industrial power systems. The Smart-LCDs integrates a universal multi-function metering unit, a touch-based display and control interface, and an industrial communication gateway within a single, compact, self-sufficient module. The device is capable of directly acquiring electrical and non-electrical parameters from field sensors (101) through analogue inputs, analogue outputs, digital inputs, and digital outputs without requiring any intermediate measuring or control devices. It supports multiple communication interfaces (103) including RS-485, CAN, UART, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi, and enables standalone cloud communication using MQTT and HTTP protocols via an inbuilt 4G/5G SIM module. The Smart-LCDs functions simultaneously as a multi-function meter, local HMI-based control station {also known as intelligent Human Machine Interface (i-HMI)}, and IoT gateway, enabling bidirectional data exchange between field devices and remote cloud servers. The invention reduces system complexity, cost, and latency while improving scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency. The Smart-LCDs is particularly suitable for applications in smart grids, microgrids, renewable energy systems, battery energy storage systems, EV charging infrastructure, and industrial automation environments."
