MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631032872 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on March 18, for 'smart load-sensing mechanical jack with iot safety lock.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Akhtarujjaman Sarkar; Dr. Sumit Chabri; Mr. Arghya Gupta; and Ms. Rebeka Sultana.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a smart load-sensing mechanical jack integrated with an Internet of Things (IoT) safety locking architecture. The apparatus comprises a load sensing device (14) for continuous mass monitoring, a motorized scissor mechanism (16, 20) for automated lifting, and a control unit that manages operational logic. Upon the detection of an unsafe or overloaded condition, the control unit automatically engages a physical safety lock to immobilize the jack and terminates motor function. The system further includes an IoT module (34) that transmits real-time operational data and safety alerts to a remote mobile application (26), facilitating remote supervision and enhancing overall dependability in mechanical lifting operations."
