MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641050508 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology, Salem, Tamil Nadu, on April 21, for 'smart iot-integrated automated cattle feeding system and method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. A. R. Venkataramanan; Mr. K. Charanraj; and Mr. V. Karthikeyan.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The automation of cattle feeding has become crucial to improving efficiency, reducing labor, and ensuring precise feed distribution. Traditional manual feeding is time-consuming and inconsistent, leading to uneven feed distribution and increased labor costs. This project introduces an Automatic Cattle Feeding System that operates with minimal human intervention. The system is designed to follow a predetermined path along the feed fence, ensuring uniform feed distribution through a conveyor mechanism controlled by an IoT-based automation unit. Motors facilitate bidirectional movement, while a hopper door mechanism releases the feed at designated locations. Additionally, a manual override feature provides flexibility for adjustments. The integration of automation enhances feed accuracy, optimizes livestock nutrition, and improves farm productivity. The proposed prototype shows the potential of smart farming solutions in modern dairy and livestock management."
