Inventor(s) include Dr. Vinay Keswani; Dr. Praful Vasantrao Barekar; Dr. Pavan Kumar; Dr. Hrushikesh Madhukar Panchabudhe; Dr. Kavita R. Singh; Dr. Nikhil S. Mangrulkar; Prof. Mrunal Ramnath Arjunkar; and Mrs. Gunjan Keswani.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a Smart IoT-Enabled Skin Disease Diagnostic System that integrates Arduino-based sensors, machine learning algorithms, and IoT connectivity for real-time detection and monitoring of skin diseases. The system comprises an Arduino microcontroller, temperature sensor, color sensor, moisture sensor, and a camera module for acquiring physiological and visual skin parameters. The collected data is transmitted wirelessly to a cloud-based analytical platform using a Wi-Fi communication module such as ESP8266 or ESP32. A machine learning model, trained on dermatological datasets, processes the sensor readings and image features to classify diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, and fungal infections. The diagnostic results are displayed through a mobile or web application interface, providing disease identification, confidence level, and suggested medical advice. The system operates on low power, is portable, and can be used for remote healthcare monitoring, especially in rural or resource-limited areas. It enables continuous data logging, secure cloud storage, and remote consultation with dermatologists. The invention offers a low-cost, accurate, and automated skin disease diagnosis solution, combining multi-sensor fusion and AI-based analytics to enhance dermatological healthcare accessibility and efficiency through smart IoT technology."
