MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521110514 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 12, 2025, for 'smart iot-enabled automated plant watering system for efficient soil moisture management.'
Inventor(s) include Ashriya Kanojia; Nausheen Rehman; and Dr. Saikat Gochhait.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled automated plant watering system (100) comprising a soil moisture sensor (101), a microcontroller (102), a relay (103), a water pump (104), one plant (105), an IoT communication module (106), and a smartphone or web application (107). The soil moisture sensor (101) continuously detects soil moisture levels, while the microcontroller (102) processes the data and activates the relay (103) to control the water pump (104) when the detected moisture falls below a predefined threshold. The water pump (104) irrigates the plant (105) until the desired moisture level is achieved. The IoT module (106) enables wireless communication for real-time monitoring and control through the smartphone or web application (107). The system ensures efficient water utilization and automated plant care for domestic gardening applications."
