MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002058 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'smart iot-based load responsive speed limiting system with gps interface and app support.'
Inventor(s) include Basharat Raza Hussain; and Sandeep Kumar Saini.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a Smart IoT-Based Load-Responsive Speed Limiting System for vehicles, designed to enhance road safety by preventing accidents caused by overloading and over-speeding. The system integrates load sensors, speed monitoring units, GPS-based terrain detection, an automatic braking mechanism, and a mobile application interface. Upon vehicle ignition, the system activates, continuously measuring vehicle load and speed, and displays real-time information through an in-cabin interface and mobile application. If the vehicle is overloaded, visual and audio alerts are issued, and engine start is disabled until the load is within permissible limits. While driving, the system provides pre-warnings when approaching safe speed thresholds and automatically restricts acceleration if the vehicle exceeds the limit. An ABS-enabled auto-braking system gradually reduces speed, while GPS data ensures adaptive control according to terrain. This invention offers an intelligent solution to minimize risks associated with overloaded vehicles, improving safety for drivers, passengers, and road users."
