MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541132953 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam Collegeo Of Engineering And Technnology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec 29 for 'smart helmet with dynamic visibility shield and thermal stress alert system.'
Inventor(s) include Devipriya C; Suganya B; and Divyapriya S.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a smart safety helmet comprising an adaptive visibility shield and a thermal stress alert system for enhancing user safety and comfort. The helmet includes an electronically controllable visor operatively connected to an ambient light sensing unit, wherein the visor transparency is automatically adjusted based on detected external light conditions. The helmet further comprises at least one internal temperature sensing element positioned to monitor thermal conditions within the helmet during use. A control unit processes sensor inputs and determines thermal stress levels using predefined threshold values. When unsafe thermal conditions are detected, an alert mechanism provides audible, visual, or haptic warnings to the user. The system operates autonomously without requiring manual intervention. The invention is particularly suitable for two-wheeler riders, industrial workers, and personnel operating in environments with varying light intensity and elevated temperatures, thereby improving visibility, reducing thermal discomtort, and enhancing overall operational safety."
