MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104184 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'smart helmet system with accident alert and compliance enforcement.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a smart helmet system (100) that ensures rider safety through automatic helmet compliance, accident detection, and emergency notification. The system comprises a smart helmet unit (102) with sensors, communication module (104), and power management unit (108) connected wirelessly to an ignition interlock unit (106). The system prevents motorcycle ignition unless the helmet is worn, detects impacts through sensors, and transmits real-time location alerts via GSM/GPS modules in case of an accident. The solar-powered charging feature ensures continuous functionality, promoting safety, sustainability, and reduced response time in emergency situations."
