MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611000883 A) filed by Nims University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Jan. 5, for 'smart glasses apparatus.'

Inventor(s) include Upashtika Bordoloi; and Iswarya V.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a multimodal wearable smart glasses apparatus (101) designed for real-time environmental perception, communication, and assistive feedback. The device comprises a lightweight frame with hidden support extensions (102) including permanent magnets (103) for enhanced balance. A sensor assembly (104), including a dual camera, ultrasonic sensors, and an inertial measurement unit (IMU), captures spatial and contextual data. A processing module (105) with a microprocessor, battery, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transceiver enables local AI-driven data analysis. Connectivity unit (106) is achieved through integrated GPS and Wi-Fi units. The multimodal output system (107) includes a bone conduction speaker (108), vibration motor (109), and augmented reality (AR) display for audio-visual-haptic feedback. User interaction is facilitated through a capacitive touchpad, microphone, and control buttons, while a USB charging port (109) powers the unit. The method enables synchronised sensing, processing, and feedback for enhanced situational awareness and assistive functionality."
