MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541134242 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'smart floor cleaning apparatus.'

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a microcontroller-controlled floor cleaning mop designed to perform multiple cleaning operations through manual user selection. The system includes a handle-mounted button interface, a motorized cleaning head, a clean water tank, and a separate dirty water tank to prevent liquid contamination. Predefined time-controlled sequences regulate motors, pumps, and extraction mechanisms to execute dry dust removal, wet spill cleaning, sticky waste removal, oil or grease cleaning, and solid debris collection. A built-in self-cleaning mechanism automatically washes and squeezes the cleaning pad after use. The apparatus is human-operated, cordless, reliable, and improves hygiene, efficiency, and ease of household floor cleaning."
