MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641062318 A) filed by Kits Akshar Institute Of Technology; and KKR & KSR Institute of Technology and Sciences, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on May 16, for 'smart flood predection and disaster alerting system based on iot and ml on hydro environment data.'

Inventor(s) include Dr K Anjaneyulu; Dr A Raghava Raju; Pothuri Syamala Lakshmi Nikitha; Avagani Lokeswari; Saridena Taraka Vamsi Krishna; and Chattu Yaswanth Raguveer.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Floods are one of the most common and destructive natural disasters, resulting in heavy loss of human life, agricultural damage, and damage of infrastructure across the whole world. Standard flood monitoring systems mainly depend on previous data analysis and manual observation and many times will fail to provide timely and accurate early warning alert signals. To overcome these limitations, this project aims to rescue people and nearby animals. The proposed system applies a network of IoT-based environmental sensors continuously and every minute will monitor different environmental conditions. The sensor data is transmitted in real time to a cloud-based platform using wireless communication system technologies. These machine learning procedures are implemented to study both real-time and previous data collections to identify patterns and predict the expectations and seriousness of flood events and flood areas. Based on the estimation results, the system arranges flood risk levels and automatically generates early warning alerts. These alerts are delivered to disaster management authorities and higher officials and local religious peoples through mobile notifications, SMS services. The proposed solution increases prediction accuracy, reduces response time, and supports forward-thinking disaster management."
