MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124643 A) filed by Nandha Engineering College, Erode, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'smart firewall with ai based anomaly detection.'
Inventor(s) include M Santhosh Kumar; R Saran; M Amrutha; and J Shanmuga Priya.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a Smart Firewall integrated with Artificial Intelligence (Al) and Machine Learning (ML)-based anomaly detection techniques for providing real-time, intelligent, and adaptive network security. The invention overcomes the limitations of traditional rule-based firewalls by employing a self-learning mechanism capable of analyzing network behavior, identifying deviations, and detecting both known and unknown threats, including zero-day attacks. The system collects and preprocesses network traffic, extracts relevant features, and utilizes ML algorithms to establish normal behavioral patterns. Any abnormal activity is validated through Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and global threat intelligence sources to ensure accurate detection. Upon confirming a threat, the firewall automatically initiates mitigation actions such as blocking malicious IPs, isolating compromised devices, and generating real-time notifications. The invention enhances network visibility through a centralized monitoring dashboard and ensures continuous improvement through adaptive learning. By combining behavioral analytics, DPI, automated response mechanisms, and threat intelligence integration, the smart firewall provides a robust, autonomous, and efficient solution for modem cyber security challenges."
