MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621007403 A) filed by Sage University, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Jan. 25, for 'smart emotion-aware clothing for mental health monitoring.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Prashant Jain; Bhushan Dhake; Dr. Sapna Dabade; and Dr. Abhay Kothari.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A smart clothing system 100 for continuous emotion-aware mental health monitoring is disclosed. The smart clothing system 100 comprises a smart textile base 102 interwoven with conductive threads and a plurality of biosensors embedded within the smart textile base 102, the plurality of biosensors comprising a galvanic skin response sensor 104, an electrocardiogram sensor 106, a thermistor 108, and an inertial measurement unit 110. A processor 112 configured to acquire physiological data from the plurality of biosensors, preprocess the physiological data to extract a feature vector comprising heart rate, heart rate variability, skin conductance, skin temperature, and posture index, classify an emotional state of a user based on the feature vector using a trained artificial neural network model, and generate an adaptive feedback signal based on the classified emotional state to provide real-time mental health awareness to the user."
