Inventor(s) include B. Varun Kumar; S. Sanjiv Kumar; C. Sivakumar; D. Srinivasan; and M. Tharaneesh.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A computer-implemented system and method are disclosed for optrmrzmg the pamng of volunteers with service opportunities through a structured, multi-criteria matching process. The system addresses the technical challenge of efficiently processing complex, high-volume data sets to produce reliable matches without relying on machine learning or adaptive models. The core invention includes a Volunteer Profile Module configured to capture and store discrete volunteer parameters (e.g., availability, specific skills, past performance ratings) in a relational database. A central Weighted Criterion Calculation (WCC) Module receives a set of opportunities and applies a predetermined, configurable scoring matrix to each. This matrix assigns varying numerical weights to each profile parameter, enabling the system to calculate-a deterministic, quantitative Match Affinity Score (MAS) for every potential pairing. The method further involves a Hierarchical Filtering Step that sequentially eliminates non-viable pairings based on absolute constraints (e.g., conflicting availability or essential certifications) before applying the weighted scoring. This technical process ensures a transparent, highly efficient, and consistently prioritized presentation of the best matches, significantly improving organizational efficiency and reducing manual screening time over conventional, unweighted database searches. The increasing need for organized and efficient community engagement has created a demand for intelligent systems capable of managing volunteer coordination with minimal manual intervention. This project presents a web-based Voluntelr Matching and Management System designed to automate the complete volunteer engagement process - including user registration, opportunity posting, intelligent matching, scheduling, and feedback collection. The system employs structured database management to accurately maintain volunteer profiles, organizational data, opportunity listings, and participation records. Key functionalities such as multi-factor matching algorithms, role-based access control, automated scheduling, and feedback-driven learning ensure transparency, fairness, and operational efficiency. The platform provides dedicated interfaces for both volunteers and org mizations, l'aciliraring real-time communicarion, match recommenclarions. and engagemenl !racking . Developed using modern web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript for the frontend, Spring Boot for the backend, and MySQL for the database), the system ensures security, scalability, and adaptability. Its modular architecture allows for easy customization to support various domains such as education, healthcare, environmental campaigns, and disaster relief programs. By integrating intelligent automation with user-friendly design, the system simplifies volunteer recruitment and improves the effectiveness of social service initiatives."
