MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541121475 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'smart ceiling fan fall detector.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. K. P. Indira; Dr. T. Sathish; and Dr Ramya Mohan.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Smart Ceiling Fan Fall Detector is an innovative safety solution intended to determine and to give alert in real-time, when somebody experiences a fall, especially in indoor residential or elderly care environments. When integrating machine learning algorithms, motion sensors and accelerometers within the ceiling fan unit, this system continuously monitors human activity beneath the fan. The device detect and observe abnormal motion patterns that signify a fall and promptly triggers an alert via connected mobile applications or smart home systems. Unlike wearable fall detection devices, this ceiling-mounted solution device offers non-intrusive, environment-based monitoring, ensuring better compliance and user comfort. Also this system includes features like automatic fan speed regulation and temperature sensing to enhance our surrounding comfort. This device aims to improve in-home safety, especially for the children, elderly and physically vulnerable individuals, by providing a reliable and non-wearable fall detection system with smart environmental control capabilities."
