MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123278 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'smart aquaponics system with fish disease detection.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a smart aquaponics system comprising a microcontroller configured to process sensor data and control operations, environmental sensors including a pH sensor for measuring water acidity, a dissolved solids sensor for monitoring concentrations, and a soil moisture sensor for detecting moisture content, a camera module configured to capture images of fish and water samples, an image processing module configured to analyze captured images to determine fish health and estimate pH values, a wireless communication interface enabling the microcontroller to transmit data to a remote monitoring platform, an automated control system including a relay module for controlling a water pump based on sensor thresholds, and an alert system configured to generate notifications when predetermined environmental conditions or fish health concerns are detected."
