MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631063134 A) filed by Jis College Of Engineering, Nadia, West Bengal, on May 19, for 'smart anti-cheating system using wifi signal distortion detection.'

Inventor(s) include Soumojit Dasgupta; Dr. Moumita Pal; Shishir Kumar Biswas; Sanjukta Mandal; Arijit Das; Saptarshi Majumder; and Sneha Biswas.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a Smart Anti-Cheating System (SACS) utilizing Wi-Fi signal distortion detection and machine learning to identify hidden electronic communication devices in controlled environments. The system employs a mesh network of Wi-Fi transceivers to monitor ambient RF parameters, including Channel State Information (CSI) and phase shifts. By comparing real-time signal data against a pre-established environmental baseline, an AI-driven engine distinguishes between normal human movement and device-induced anomalies. Identified distortions are assigned an anomaly score and localized via triangulation, with results displayed on a real-time heatmap dashboard. This non-invasive, passive framework ensures high-stakes integrity in examination halls and secure meeting rooms while strictly adhering to privacy-preserving standards by avoiding the capture of personal or visual data."
