MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641022187 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 25, for 'smart alarm mat system for effective wake-up using sound, vibration and mobile control.'

It integrates a pressure sensitive alarm mat embedded with vibration mqtors and an audio output unit capable of producing alarm tones or music. A microcontroller unit processes user-defined settings and controls alarm activation based on preset time schedules. The system supports multiple operating modes including sound mode, vibration mode and a combined sound-and-vibration mode to suit individual user needs. The alarm mat incorporates adjustable alarm timing, repeat alarm functionality, volume control and a customizable snooze feature to enhance user convenience. A wireless communication module enables operation and configuration through a mobile application, allowing users to remotely set alarm time, select modes and monitor alann status. The mat is designed with a flexible, non-slip and durable outer layer to ensure comfort and safety during use. By providing strong sensory stimulation through physical vibration and sound, the invention effectively reduces oversleeping and improves wake-up reliability. The smart alarm mat is suitable for use by students, working professionals, deep sleepers and hearing-impaired individuals, making it a practical and efficient wake-up solution for daily use."
