MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104221 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'smart ai-enabled self-washing hijab system for wearable hygiene management.'

Inventor(s) include Amanullah Quamer; Harshita; and Zeenat Zahra.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a wearable smart textile system (100) integrated into a hijab, incorporating conductive fibers (102), humidity and odor sensors (104), micro-heaters (106), micro-vibration motors (108), a rechargeable power supply (110), a microcontroller unit (112), and an AI-powered mobile application (114). The system autonomously detects sweat, moisture, or liquid spills and initiates localized self-cleaning cycles using heat and vibration. The microcontroller (112) coordinates sensor inputs and actuator outputs, while the AI application (114) monitors hygiene, predicts optimal washing intervals, and allows user customization of heating and vibration. Embedded components ensure comfort, energy efficiency, and cultural suitability. The system (100) reduces manual washing frequency, extends fabric lifespan, and provides hygienic freshness between uses. Scalable to other garments, it offers a sustainable, technologically advanced wearable solution."
