MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133504 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'smart agriculture product grading system.'
Inventor(s) include Selvanayaki S; Geethanjali S; and Priyadharshini R.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Smart Agricultural Product Grading System The Grading System for Agricultural Produce Powered by Al analyzes the visual and physical aspects of agricultural produce using a deep learning neural network. The system collects both visual images and sensor data to create a number-based feature representation of agricultural produce (based on both types of information). The trained deep learning model processes this numerical data to evaluate the different grades of agricultural produce (to determine their relative quality) and identify defective agricultural produce. The decision-making process is the final step in determining the grade of agricultural produce. The decision-making step uses the model result to determine the quality of the agricultural produce and trigger the necessary grading/sorting actions, such as automated classification, mechanical sorting, and reporting. This agricultural grading system has been developed to be deployed in large agricultural environments and on cloud storage systems to provide accurate, consistent, and timely agricultural product grading. With this approach to grading, agricultural produce can be graded accurately without requiring an operator to manually inspect every individual item, or using strict or predetermined grading criteria. The result is superior throughput, flexibility, and quality assurance in contemporary agricultural supply chains."
