MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123887 A) filed by Saveetha Institute Of Medical And Technical Sciences, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'slip sure - a semi automated coverslip applicator: a novel device to enhance reproducibility and eff.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Gayathri K; Dr Sudha V; and Deepak Nallaswamy Veeraiyan.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a budget-friendly, semi-automated tabletop device for mounting histopathology slides. The apparatus, named SlipSure, integrates a motorized conveyor belt assembly that carries multiple microscope slides sequentially, a first slide detection sensor that triggers a DPX dispensing unit, and a second sensor that activates a coverslip dispenser. The DPX dispensing unit comprises a suction pump, reservoir, and calibrated nozzle capable of delivering precise droplets of mounting medium onto tissue sections. The coverslip dispenser employs a vacuum pick-and-place mechanism that picks individual coverslips from a stack and releases them onto DPX-coated slides with accuracy. A programmable microcontroller synchronizes conveyor movement, sensor detection, DPX dispensing, and coverslip placement, ensuring reproducibility and efficiency. The compact tabletop frame allows the invention to be easily installed in routine laboratories, providing a low-cost, reliable alternative to fully automated coverslippers while reducing manual errors, air bubble formation, and breakage."
