MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050904 A) filed by Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, on April 21, for 'sleep paralysis management system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Amanpreet Sandhu; Sneha Kamboj; and Vaasu Verma.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sleep paralysis management system, comprises a wearable wristband 101 configured to be worn on a wrist of a user, a photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor 102 to measure heart rate data, an accelerometer to detect motion and immobility data, a galvanic skin response (GSR) sensor 103 to measure skin conductance data indicative of stress levels, a mattress 104 to enable the user to rest and configured to detect sleep posture and movement data through an integrated sensor network, a microcontroller to execute a machine learning based disturbance detection model for identifying sleep paralysis events characterized by elevated heart rate and sustained immobility, an intervention module to induce an involuntary movement response in the user through at least one of controlled micro-movements using vibration output or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) unit 111 to interrupt the sleep paralysis event and restore normal sleep state."
