MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020687 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 19, 2024, for 'skiing assistive device for physically handicapped person.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A skiing assistive device for physically handicapped person, comprising two platforms 1 positioned on ice surface, an L-shaped plate 2 attached via two L-shaped telescopically operated links 3 to accommodate a physically handicapped, a camera 4 detects user's height and accordingly links 3 extends for lifting plate 2, a speaker 5 notifies user to wear both straps 6, a motorized roller 7 configured with each straps 6 to rotate for fastening straps 6, a touch enabled screen 8 accessed by user to select destination point, a GPS module fetches real-time location of plate 2, four omnidirectional wheels 9 maneuvers platforms 1 as per determined route, two handles 10 gripped by user as support, two push- button 12 pressed by user to regulate speed of platforms 1, and a universal joint 13 moves platforms 1 towards/away from each other in order to dodge obstacle as detected by the camera 4."
